The Doors album Strange Days was released on September 15th 1967. Strange Days had that album cover that you just couldn’t stop staring at while writing your own stories in you head about what was going on there. The Soft Parade album was released in a nice hard cardboard gatefold album jacket. The first three singles from the record were released before the album was even released itself. Four singles in all were released from the album including the second single entitled “Wishful Sinful,” which was released in March of 1969, “Tell All The People, released in June of 1969 and the final single from the album entitled “Running Blue,” released in August of 1969. Highlights from The Soft Parade included one of our favorite Doors singles of all time in the great track “Touch Me,” complete with that massive horn section. Listen, every Doors album that was released while Jim Morrison was still alive was great. Sorry we’re from New York here at classicrock Man landed on the moon for the first time, the greatest concert of all time occurred in Woodstock, New York, the New York Mets won their first World Series and New York Jets won their only Super Bowl. A summer that anyone who grew up in the 60s will never forget. Released as The Doors fourth studio album, The Soft Parade hit the stores on July 18th 1969. It’s obviously not the best Doors album but there were so many great tracks on the record including “Love Street, “Spanish Caravan,” another fan favorite entitled “Five To One,” and our favorite song on the album called “Summer’s Almost Gone” # 5 – The Soft ParadeĬontinuing with our Doors albums ranked list we present the great album The Soft Parade. The album received mixed reviews when it was first released. The first single was entitled “The Unknown Soldier.” The album’s second single was a far bigger hit then the “Unknown Soldier,” entitled “Hello, I Love You.” A song that would become an all time Doors fan’s favorite. Two singles were released from the album. Waiting For The Sun would be the only Doors album to hit number one on the Billboard Top 200 album charts. It was the poetry, the vocals and the mystique behind their lead singer Jim Morrison that helped to define the Doors as one of the leading bands of the counterculture of the 1960s. Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore formed a band unlike any group that had come before and any group that has ever tried to follow.
